21st Century Girls Program

Girls experience nontraditional STEAM careers.

21st Century Girls is a 4-day summer program intended to encourage and instill confidence in 7th-8th grade girls with aptitudes in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) and business subject-areas to enhance interest in high-end traditionally male-dominated careers.  Program participants are nominated by their teachers. 

The objectives of the program are to increase awareness of how STEAM is integrated into 21st century professions and to provide a series of hands-on experiences for girls in related career paths.  The program also seeks to introduce girls to local women who are currently successful in similar careers that will act as a model for aspiring young female professionals. 

Since 2001, over 300 girls have participated in this program.
